Scripture Journal

Late last year Bobby and I went out on a date and left our kids with Mary Hallewell. It was a Monday night so when we returned to pick them up the family was in the middle of there Family Home Evening lesson. And lucky us. They were sharing there favorite scriptures and telling why it was there favorite and how they apply that scripture to themselves. At the end of the lesson My aunt Nancy Hallewell challenged all of them to start keeping a journal and finding a scripture on every page that stuck out to them and write it down and explain how it related to them. I thought this was such a cool idea I started on myself. My goal is to write a scripture journal every year. I think it will be so cool to look back in a couple of years at all of them together and see which scriptures changed and how I changed through the years as well. A couple of my favorites this year are:

Jacob 2:18 But before ye seek for riches, seek ye for the kingdom of God.
I love this scripture because there is no doubt what the lord is asking us
to do. So many times I think how lucky I would be to have no money problems
and to have money to do everything I want and need to do. And to often I
how many, more important, blessings I have in my life.

Mormon 1:8 And my prayer to God is concerning my brethren, that they may once again come to the knowledge of God, yea, the redemption of Christ; that they may once again be a delight some people.
I have a few members in my family who are not active, and for whom I pray
for everyday to come back. I also find myself praying for the world as it
gets more, and more destructive. How wonderful it would be if everyone
found the light of Christ.

This is a good idea. I love reading my scriptures and I find that when I do it everyday I just feel better about everything. Writing things down is a lovely way to preserve those feelings for a time when an extra boost of confidence is needed.

Really great post.
